I was born and raised in Atlanta, and have been interested in art all of my life. My mother was an artist and an early inspiration to me. As a young budding artist, I attended classes at the High Museum of Art then on to Henry Grady High School and Famous Artists School of New Haven. I also studied architecture at Georgia Tech's School of Architecture and later received a Fine Arts Degree from The University of Chattanooga.
After graduating, I worked at Dimensions, Inc., an architectural rendering firm in Atlanta.. Two years later, I returned to Chattanooga and worked for several advertising agencies as a graphic designer. In 1975, I founded Advertising & Communications, Inc.. a full service advertising agency employing as many as 25 designers. copywriters, marketing and logistics specialists.
During my professional advertising career, I was fortunate enough to received several prestigious awards including The Silver Metal Award for Outstanding Leadership in advertising community of Chattanooga. All of the success I have received has been due to the great professionals I have had the honor to work alongside plus the superb clients we served., Together we created local, regional, and national advertising campaigns for many of the major businesses and organizations in the area such as Then Krystal Company, CBL and Associates, Olan Mills, Erlanger Hospital, Danver's, Restaurants of Menphis, American National Bank, Professional Eye Associates, Dalton, and Archway Custom Homes of Atlanta.
I am married to the former Carole Rawls of Chattanooga, and they live on Signal Mountain, Tennessee. They have two sons, Chip Waller, a graphic designer in Atlanta and Blake Waller, a medical equipment salesman in Chattanooga. The Wallers have one grandson, Max, who lives in Atlanta, and Madolyn who lives in Chattanooga. Several portraits in the portfolio are of Max and Madolyn.
I maintains a design studio in North Chattanooga where, in addition to his portrait work, creates advertising materials for clients in Chattanooga, Atlanta, Memphis and Dalton
